The Northern Rockies Natural History Guide is an online field guide to the plants and animals of the Northern Rockies.
Much of the information found here is particularly focused on western Montana and areas near Ravalli and Missoula counties. We integrate information from existing field guides, published literature, web resources and local observations. Our intent is to make local natural history information easily accessible with photo illustrations, detailed descriptions, and illustrated keys for identification. This guide is also designed to supplement courses at the University of Montana as well as in K-12 schools.
The Northern Rockies Natural History Guide is a product of the ECOS program at The University of Montana. Students in the ECOS program have developed most of the information in this guide, and this project would not be possible without their help.
